Isn’t it funny that this is what happens to us? That even if you love books, if you start to dedicate your life to them, a light goes out, somehow. You come to know them with your brain rather than your soul. Maybe it’s just one more sad example of how you’ve grown up.
While I disagree a bit with the criticism of Rowling’s writing (though maybe I’ve just had my standards lowered by Dan Brown and Stephenie Meyer - yes, I read the first Twilight), I think this is a pretty good article. And I appreciate the effort put in by someone who’s at least partially on the other side of the fence to not just go with, “It’s popular/fantasy/genre fiction/for children, I hate it.”
